Leaders at Faust: An Interview with Desiree Ho

"The older I grow the more I realise not everyone gets that privilege and I am extremely lucky to get to do something I love." In this interview, we met with Desiree Ho, one of our Group Leaders at Faust. Desiree has 18 years of experience in the performing arts field and specialises in directing and managing performing arts projects. Prior to joining Faust, Desiree was an active performer, choreographer and director, working with youth organisations and adults. She trained with the City Contemporary Dance Company's Wudaoqingnian scholarship programme, at Dancecity in the UK and Hotstepper in Denmark. She is an awardee of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council's Cultural Bursary, and previously worked at the Sage Gateshead in the UK, a world-class performing arts venu

Leaders at Faust: An Interview with the Sleeping Beauty Panto Cast

During this period we wanted to share the creative endeavours of our Faust Leaders, Members and others in our community.  In this feature, we interviewed Faust Leaders Janet Walker, Miguel Urmeneta, Samantha Brooks and Annabelle Lyn regarding their recent experience from performing at Hong Kong Players' annual Christmas pantomime of Sleeping Beauty , back in December 2019. Miguel Urmeneta during a performance of Sleeping Beauty the Panto in December 2019 How did you hear about the annual pantomime and how did you get involved MIGUEL:   I have friends who have been involved with Panto for many years, so it was always something that I was aware of. I was actually told by Kathy Mak that Hong Kong Players were in need of a replacement Prince for this year's panto. She's been involved both on and off-stage with Panto for quite a while, returning to last year's panto as choreographer once again and being friends with me already, she was the one to reach out.

Becky is one of our Group Leaders at Faust. Becky trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education. Since then, Becky has worked both as a director - creating plays for young audiences, and as a youth theatre leader, touring across Europe, Asia and Africa. Highlights of Becky’s career so far include directing Simon Armitage’s play for young actors, Eclipse, as part of the Connections Festival at The National Theatre, London and touring with her own company, LPA Theatre, with performances at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and The Lake of Stars.
